The closet room: etched-glass doors, one open on lit shelves of hats, bags and shoes

Santo Spirito Apartment · Santo Spirito, Florence

The closet room

On the mezzanine I made a walk-in closet with a vanity, translucent on all sides: doors and structure are in extra-light etched glass, so the room glows softly and what it holds shows only as shadows.

The master bedroom: the upholstered bed in striped linen, the old secretaire behind

The GuestHouse · Sasso Marconi, Emilia-Romagna

The Bedrooms

The work in the three bedrooms was targeted. In each we refreshed the walls, changing their tone.

Forte dei Marmi Residence · Forte dei Marmi, Versilia

Closet

Behind a ribbed walnut door, the same language as the screen carried through to a door that is usually an afterthought.

The walnut wall closed, the rug laid across

Villa in Chianti · Greti, Chianti

The dressing room

The room between the bedroom and the master bathroom. One wall is given over to walnut, floor to ceiling, with the handles set flush so the run reads as panelling until it is opened. A console, a mirror and two chairs are all that stands in front of it.

Walk-in closet

A walk-in closet with a vanity, fully accessorized; doors and structure in leather-padded panels and technical lighting complete this corridor connecting the open space to the night area.

The bed on the hide, window to the hills

Villa in Chianti · Greti, Chianti

The main bedroom

Polished plaster to the beams, a buttoned headboard run the width of the wall, and a hide on the terracotta. The wardrobes are painted to disappear into the wall behind them.

Master bedroom

The bedroom is dominated by velvet wallpaper, installed to full height and lit by four wall-washer spots.

The guest bedrooms

Two guest rooms under the roof, each left with its own character: one striped, with prints hung close above the bed; the other built around a white four-poster whose posts run up to meet the beams.

Il Fienile · Sasso Marconi, Emilia-Romagna

The master bedroom

A quiet room in oak and plaster. The headboard is built into the wall, with lit niches either side and a row of patterned panels above the bed.

The bunk beds against the forest wallpaper

Il Fienile · Sasso Marconi, Emilia-Romagna

The forest room

The walls of this bedroom are papered as a forest: tall pines, birds, a canopy of branches over the pillow. Bunk beds on a slim black frame stand against the wallpaper, with a desk under the window and a tower of books beside it.

A wardrobe of old doors beside the beds

The bunk room

A second room with bunks, simpler and plainer: bare plaster, a desk under a paper light, drawings hung above the lower bed. The wardrobe is made from old doors.
