The entrance screen

Vertical walnut slats dividing the entrance from the living room

A structural column stood where the entrance had to meet the living room. Rather than box it in, it was taken inside a screen of vertical and horizontal walnut slats, designed and made to measure, which divides the two semi-transparently.

The beam it carries is left visible inside the slats, bolts and all.
